My research interests are on the subjects of museums role in shaping societies and how to communicate and engage communities. I am particularly interested in the social interaction, the educational practices, the sensory experience and how to communicate through space.
My doctoral thesis, The Imagined Museum: Framing Social, Educational and Spatial Roles of Kuwait National Museum, was completed in 2021. I applied Goffman’s Framing theory to museum studies and analysed the KNM from three perspectives; social, educational and spatial in regard to its communication strategy and curatorial practices. I linked the theory to communication, social responsibility, education and spatial experiential themes to assess the imagined and actual practices, experiences and spatial meanings of KNM. This research explored the meaning of a national museum in a post-war country in order to understand the contemporary role of KNM and the intersecting relation with its audience.
